Summary:
The Citrus County School System requested in 2011 that the City assume the cost of providing school crossing guards at a total of five (5) locations. Four (4) of these locations are associated with the elementary school children and the City agreed to absorb the cost of those positions based on statutory language. The fifth position is associated with the middle school children, and the City agrees to fund the position since it involves students crossing a four-lane highway (NE 3rd Ave. & Highway 19).
The CCSO has submitted an agreement proposing a cost of $31,408 for FY 2021-2022, a 11.29% cost increase from the FY 2020-2021 agreement. This increase is based on the passing of No. 2 Constitutional, Amendment Article X, Section 24 - Raising Florida’s Minimum Wage. The Amendment raises minimum wage to $10.00 per hour effective September 30th, 2021. Each September 30th thereafter, minimum wage shall increase by $1.00 per hour until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour on September 30th, 2026.
